Here’s the trailer for the new video game “Bully” coming out in October. Interesting stuff. I think the main character actually fights against the bullies, but I know that some anti-violence groups are all over this.
There’s an interesting article over at the USA Today Generation Next blog about young people, God, and church. Here’s an excerpt:
But while you couldn’t take God out of many of these young people, you could certainly take the church out of them.
Jason Wooliver, 26, got a free pass to come into the RV - his birthday had just passed and his wife is a Gen Nexter. Jason lives in Springfield, Mo., works in construction and has three children. He described his generation as “lost” and in need of a “moral framework” but not necessarily one that organized religion can provide.
“I think that religion has given itself a bad name among today’s youths,” he said. “They need to know the truth that organized religion is a bad thing in itself. It’s about a personal relationship with God and who He is. Our moral framework has decreased tremendously. We need to get back to the truth, get back to the things this nation was built upon.”
I want your feedback. I want this to be a community. What do you do to help form students spiritually? What has worked in the past for you? Leave a comment with suggestions for disicpleship. And ask your friends to post one, too. Let’s see if we can get some suggestions for the best things to do for discipleship. Let me know, please. Thanks.
I just finished making a Squidoo Lens on Youth Discipleship. It includes a lot of what I have written here and elsewhere on discipleship, as well as some links to various places that talk about youth discipleship. I’d love for you to check it out, rank it, and comment on it, too. Let me know if I should add anything to it. I’m sure there are tons of resources that could be on there that aren’t. So, let me know, and I’ll add them.
Oh, yeah, if you get the urge to make your own Squidoo lens, click here before you sign up to tell them I referred you.
