Journal of Student Ministries

Maybe this is old news, but I just came across The Journal of Student Ministries. I haven’t read many of the articles, but it looks like another pretty good resource for youth workers. Anyway, it was new to me, so I thought I’d post about it here.

The problem of accountability

My wife and I were talking about the Ted Haggard situation. She was talking about how she couldn’t believe someone would do something that compromising with so much to lose.

I responded with, “I think that was exactly the problem.” When we have a lot to lose, we don’t seek the accountability that we need. If we have nothing or very little to lose, it’s easier (although not easy) to admit that we have a problem or need help. When our ministry is public or large, it is a lot more difficult to seek the help that we all need, i.e., accountability.

I think the lesson (for me, at least), is that we all need accountability. Anyone can fall. If you don’t think you could fall, think again. The more success your ministry has, the more difficult it is to admit that. But it’s the truth.

Mac vs PC Spoofs

Here’s a pretty good Mac vs PC commercial spoof with a religious twist. Interesting to think about.
