Twitter in youth ministry?

I’ve been playing around with twitter for a day now, and I think it has some potential in youth ministry. Studies show that teens are IM or text messenging addicts, and twitter is basically a way to stay in touch using this technology.

Basically, I’m thinking it’s a good community building, social networking application that helps us stay in touch. I can imagine some uses for twitter in youth ministry, but mostly from the building community, doing life together side of things. What do you think?

Free Stuff

In case you didn’t already know, Tim Schmoyer has been giving away ideas every Friday now for about 11 weeks. It’s a great idea because there’s so much stuff available, and of course open-source is the way to go. Anyway, check out his blog and pick up some good resources for youth ministry. You can also contribute to Freebee Friday by submitting stuff to be given away.
