Teens and Media

There’s a new study out this week about teens and media. Americans aged 13-18 spend a whopping 72 hours a week using “electronic media.”

Here’s another interesting bit of info from the article:

For 2006, one-third of teens reported owning an Apple Computer iPod, up from only 1 percent in 2003, according to the study. More than half said they also own and play Sony’s PlayStation 2, and one-third said they own an original Microsoft Xbox game console. But as many as three quarters reported playing video games on a regular basis.

By the way, I also just read that Mexican youth spend 12 hours a day watching TV or playing video games. So, it’s not just an American trend.

Ask the readers: Halloween?

jackThere’s all sorts of theology out there about Halloween. What’s yours? Is it right or wrong to celebrate? If it’s okay to celebrate, are there limits? How have you seen churches engage this cultural celebration?

New Barna Study

There’s a new Barna study out about what Americans want. I’ve commented about it here on my family’s blog.

Rolling Stone Photo Essay on Christian Rock

Check out this interesting photo essay by Rolling Stone about Christian music festivals and coffee houses, etc. It’s an interesting look at the sub-culture of Christian music, and it gives a great look at what mainstream media thinks about Christians.
